YELLOW FLORAL WITH OLIVES

14 X 11
OIL ON STRETCHED CANVAS
These Lady Banks roses are in a tiny bottle that once contained scented oil. I like the violets and yellows with the olive green.

OIL PORTRAIT OF SANDY

7 X 5 OIL ON PANEL
This is a portrait of a good friend of ours.  She has a glow about her that was really difficult to capture.

BEACH BIRD BUDDIES

5 X 7 OIL ON PANEL SOLD
These seagulls are a good subject to warm-up with as I have been away from  the easel for a couple of days.
It's hard to take them too seriously.

BOATS FROM THE BILOXI BAY BRIDGE

14 X 11 OIL ON STRETCHED CANVAS
SOLD
This seascape with colorful boats, shows the view from the bridge that connects Ocean Springs to Biloxi, Mississippi on highway 90.  This huge bridge was blown away during hurricane Katrina and took near a couple of years to re-open.  One has to be very careful when crossing into Biloxi or the casinos will draw you in and suck all the money out of your pockets.

WHITE DAISY IN A BLUE JAR

7 X 5 OIL ON PANEL SOLD
This floral still life was fun to paint.  There is something fascinating about painting glass especially with water.

I wanted to paint this still life because I like all the shapes in the red pot and the reflected colors in the shadows.

ROOSTER WITH SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT

10 X 8 OIL ON RAYMAR PANEL
I hope I don't get arrested for assault with a palette knife!  This colorful rooster painting has a lot of rich oil paint and will take over two weeks to dry.

THE PATTERNED SWIMSUIT

THE PATTERNED SWIMSUIT
I simplified the figures in this painting, describing the figures with only a couple of values using orange and alizarin crimson (shadows). The figure in the background is the block in sketch which caught the gesture nicely. Paying attention to the negative spaces is extremely helpful when working with figures (or anything else for that matter).

RED, ORANGE AND YELLOW PEPPERS

6 X 6 OIL ON PANEL
I guess this is pepper paint-out week.
I did buy a carton of miniature mixed peppers and they are so colorful and too cute to eat.  I photographed them in several set-ups to paint later.

After changing the background three times in this colorful little still life, I am finally happy with the painting. Going in with the palette knife helped liven it up.
